Now it might look like I was just there to have a ton of fun (which I absolutely did), but I was really there to get a feel for the festival with Skot and Maggie from the Mosaic Film Experience which is a two day global film festival that highlights films made by youth as well as films that explore the challenges that youth face. It will be held in November (so if you know any youth, have them enter!) and there will be discussions and lectures from filmmakers that I'm very much looking forward to seeing.
What exactly do these two events have in common? Well, aside from both Maranda Parties in the Park and the Mosaic Film Experience both being events that improve the youth experience and serve a diverse and underserved community, Maranda has asked Mosaic to create videos highlighting stories from some of the kids at her event - so Mosaic agreed to do it and will be turning it into a hands-on learning experience for some local students. That's right! Wrinkle Creative's own Randy and Mallory will be helping train students to create videos that will broadcast on Maranda's TV show!
To be sure that we will give the students the best learning experience possible, we went to this summer's first Party in the Park at Lamar Park in Wyoming to talk with Maranda and to scout out the best way to have the students shoot the event. Now this isn't the first time somebody from Wrinkle has met Maranda, but it was mine - and she glowed with friendliness even on what is surely her busiest day of the year.
I'll keep you updated as we begin to make the videos! We will be filming at the Parties in the Park on July 10 at Kollen Park in Holland. I hope to see you there!
